Pikey Peak Trek is a relatively new and short 5-Day trip available from Kathmandu to one of the most famed and incredible viewpoints of Everest. Standing at 4,065 m (13,333 ft), Pikey Peak offers a panoramic view of the Everest massif, including the mighty peak itself, Lhotse, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga. The travelers returning from the trip often recall that they can almost touch the crown of Everest as they soak in the majestic sight!

Why choose Pikey Peak 5-Day Trek?

The Pikey Peak 5-Day Trek is a route located in the Lower Khumbu region of Nepal and is now gaining popularity for several reasons. Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to summit Everest, also called Pikey Peak as one of the best viewpoints for Everest. Compared to the more crowded Everest Base Camp Trek, the Pikey Peak Trek is less crowded and offers a more remote experience.

Additionally, the trek is considered moderately difficult, with well-maintained trails and no technical climbing required. This makes it a good option for trekkers of all experience levels. Besides, the trek can be completed within 5-Days (with no flights) from Kathmandu, making it a good option for those who are short on time and budget.

The trip:

The trip begins with an early morning pickup from the travelers hotel/apartment in Kathmandu. We will then take a 8-9 hours jeep drive to Dhap, Solukhumbu to begin the trek. The hike then follows a well-defined trail through villages, forests, and rhododendron meadows. The highest point on the trek is Pikey Peak itself, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

What more can I expect from the Pikey Peak 5-Day Trek?

Unlike the more crowded Everest Base Camp Trek, Pikey Peak offers a more serene and less touristy experience. Hike through tranquil villages, lush rhododendron forests, and serene meadows, encountering fewer fellow trekkers along the way. The trek also takes you through villages inhabited by the Sherpa people, renowned for their mountaineering skills and rich cultural heritage. Here the travelers may interact with the locals, learn about their way of life, and experience their warm hospitality. Moreover, the Pikey Peak trek is considered moderately challenging, making it achievable for trekkers with a decent fitness level. The gradual ascent also allows for proper acclimatization, minimizing the risk of altitude sickness as well.
