The Bhutan Short 4-Day Tour is a meticulously curated journey into the heart of the “Land of the Thunder Dragon.” Specifically designed for those seeking a deeper connection, this itinerary expands your horizon beyond the capital and into the historic Punakha Valley. From the moment you land at Paro International Airport, you will feel the profound peace of this “Country of Happiness.” Consequently, our signature approach ensures that even a short stay feels remarkably complete, blending the vibrant streets of Thimphu with the breathtaking vistas of Dochula Pass. Because Cordial Trek manages every logistical detail—from heritage stays to the iconic Tiger’s Nest hike—you can simply immerse yourself in the sacred beauty of the Himalayas.

Why Choose the Bhutan Short 4-Day Tour?

While a 3-day trip offers a brief glimpse, this 4-day Bhutan itinerary allows you to cross the mountains into the historic Punakha Valley. This extra day transforms your journey by balancing ancient spiritual monuments with vast, scenic landscapes. Consequently, you experience the deeper soul of the Kingdom without feeling rushed. Furthermore, we handle every complex travel requirement for your total peace of mind. This includes securing your Bhutan e-Visa and managing the mandatory Sustainable Development Fee (SDF). Because we navigate the paperwork and logistics, your only task is to soak in the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayas.

Our Promise: Your Seamless 4-Day Journey

We believe your Himalayan holiday should be entirely stress-free. Therefore, from the moment you land at Paro Airport until our final goodbye, we will manage every logistical detail. Our “All-Inclusive” approach ensures a premium experience where you never have to worry about the “fine print” of mountain travel.

What Can I Expect From This Tour?

This immersive 4-day experience perfectly combines architectural grandeur with pristine Himalayan nature. You can expect a seamless blend of guided sightseeing and authentic local interaction. Our curated highlights include:

a. Giant Buddha Dordenma — Overlook Thimphu Valley from one of the world’s largest bronze Buddhas

b. Dochula Pass — Traverse this stunning 3,100 m pass featuring 108 memorial chortens and Himalayan views

c. Punakha Dzong — Explore the majestic “Palace of Great Happiness” at the confluence of two glacial rivers

d. Chimi Lhakhang — Walk through lush rice paddies to reach the legendary “Temple of Fertility”

e. Kyichu Lhakhang — Visit a sacred 7th-century sanctuary famous for its peaceful “miracle” orange trees

The Undisputed Essential: Hiking to Tiger’s Nest

The definitive highlight of your Bhutan Short 4-Day Tour is the pilgrimage to Paro Taktsang, famously known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched precariously on a granite cliff 900 meters above the valley floor, this monastery remains the ultimate spiritual symbol of Bhutan. According to ancient legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this site on the back of a tigress to meditate in the 8th century. Today, the trail offers a rewarding challenge through fragrant pine forests draped in colorful prayer flags. Most hikers reach the monastery in 4 to 6 hours, often stopping for a refreshing tea break at the midway cafeteria with iconic panoramic views. Consequently, this hike is far more than a simple mountain trek; it is a life-changing spiritual experience.

Planning Your Visit: Best Season for Bhutan

Choosing the right time for your Bhutan Short 4-Day Tour ensures the best Himalayan visibility and trekking temperatures. Spring (March to May) is arguably the most vibrant season, as wildflowers and rhododendrons bloom across the valleys. Alternatively, Autumn (September to November) provides crystal-clear skies and crisp mountain air, making it perfect for photography. While the Winter (December to February) is cooler, it offers sunny days and peaceful, crowd-free trails for the mindful traveler. During this time, the views from Dochula Pass are often at their most spectacular. Finally, the summer months bring lush, emerald-green landscapes to the Punakha Valley, though clouds may occasionally veil the high peaks.

2026–2028 Travel Essentials: Visas & The SDF

Navigating Bhutan’s travel policies is entirely seamless with Cordial Trek. Currently, all international tourists—excluding Indian, Bangladeshi, and Maldivian nationals—must pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of USD 100 per night. For this 4-day itinerary, the mandatory fee totals USD 300 per person. This vital contribution directly supports Bhutan’s free healthcare, education, and world-leading carbon-neutral status. Furthermore, we facilitate your Bhutan e-Visa processing entirely online. We simply require a color scan of your passport and a digital photo to begin. Because we manage every aspect of the application, you can bypass the complex paperwork. Consequently, your only focus remains on the upcoming Himalayan adventure.

These trip details are compiled with due diligence and provided in good faith. However, please be aware that information is subject to alteration to ensure the highest quality experience and does not form a contractual agreement with Cordial Trek Pvt. Ltd. We remain committed to providing you with an enriching and enjoyable journey.

Flexible Booking (2026–2028)

For the remaining balance, we accept Online Transfer, Card Swipe, or Cash (USD, AUD, CAD, EURO, GBP, SGD, etc.). For your ease, these details can be finalized after your arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal or Thimphu, Bhutan, allowing you to focus entirely on the start of your journey.

International Flight Coordination

Travelers should plan to arrive at Paro International Airport (PBH) on Day 1 and depart on Day 4. Because flights into the Kingdom are regulated, they are operated exclusively by the national carriers, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines. We recommend transiting through major hubs like Kathmandu, New Delhi, Bangkok, or Singapore. If you prefer, the team at Cordial Trek can entirely manage these flight bookings for you to ensure seamless connections.

Available Transit Points for Flying to Bhutan

a. Kathmandu, Nepal (KTM): Daily flights; the best route for breathtaking views of Everest and the Himalayas.

b. Bangkok, Thailand (BKK): The most popular international hub with daily service.

c. New Delhi (DEL) & Kolkata (CCU), India: Daily and frequent direct services from major Indian gateways.

d. Singapore (SIN): Regular direct service (typically 2–3 times weekly) via Drukair.

e. Dubai, UAE (DXB): Twice-weekly direct service via Drukair; ideal for travelers from Europe, the US, and the Middle East.

f. Hong Kong (HKG): Seasonal “Fixed Departure” direct flights are now available on select dates throughout 2026.

g. Dhaka, Bangladesh (DAC): Regular direct service from the capital.

Note: If flying via Nepal, we recommend arriving in Kathmandu at least one day prior to your Bhutan departure to ensure a stress-free transit.

Arrival and Meet-and-Greet

Upon landing at Paro International Airport, a dedicated Cordial Trek representative will be waiting to greet you with a personalized name card and a traditional Bhutanese welcome. We ensure a seamless transition with a private, comfortable transfer directly to your hotel in Thimphu. This scenic 1.5-hour drive winds along the glacial Pa Chhu and Wang Chhu rivers, offering your first glimpses of prayer flags and traditional farmhouses. Consequently, your entry into the “Land of the Thunder Dragon” is entirely effortless and stress-free.

e-Visa Requirements

Travelers must acquire a Bhutan e-Visa before flying. Nonetheless, we seamlessly process and issue these visas for all our guests. To begin, we simply require the following:

1. A high-quality color scan of your valid passport.
2. One digital passport-sized photograph.
3. Your international flight tickets.
4. Travel insurance. (recommended)

Note: Standard processing requires 2 weeks; urgent cases can be handled in 3–4 working days.

Accommodations and Dining

Throughout your journey, you will reside in hand-selected 3-star category hotels (twin/double sharing), with premium upgrades (4 or 5-Star upgrades at additional cost) available upon request. Your package includes full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) along with tea and coffee throughout the day. Consequently, you can enjoy a diverse menu featuring authentic Bhutanese specialties alongside well-prepared international cuisines.

Baggage Allowances

For your international flight into Paro, the standard total weight allowance is 35 kg. This limit combined includes both your checked and carry-on baggage. We recommend packing approximately 25–30 kg in your checked luggage and keeping 5–10 kg for your carry-on to ensure a smooth check-in process at your transit hub.

Travel Checklist

Because Himalayan weather is famously changeable, we suggest a versatile “layering” approach to your wardrobe. If you are visiting during the winter months, please bring high-quality warm layers and a thermal jacket. For the spring and summer, lightweight, breathable gear is perfect for staying “light and zippy” during your valley walks and the Tiger’s Nest hike.

F.A.Q

What is the process for obtaining a Bhutan visa and travel permits?

You can travel with total peace of mind—Cordial Trek handles the entire visa and permit process on your behalf. Once you confirm your booking, we apply for your e-Visa through the Department of Immigration. A digital copy of your approved visa will be emailed to you well before your flight, which you will need to present at the check-in counter.

Note: To process your documents, we require a clear color scan of your passport (valid for at least 6 months), a digital passport-sized photo, and your flight itinerary.

How does the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) work?

As of 2026, all international tourists (except those from India, Bangladesh, and Maldives) pay a mandatory Sustainable Development Fee of USD 100 per person, per night. This fee is a direct contribution to Bhutan's carbon-neutral infrastructure, free healthcare, and education. We will include this in your total package cost and settle it with the government before your arrival.

Will I be received upon my arrival at the airport?

Yes, a warm welcome awaits you. Upon landing at Paro International Airport, a Cordial Trek representative will greet you at the arrival terminal with a personalized name card. From that moment on, your guide and driver will ensure your journey is seamless and comfortable.

Are there any other hidden costs?

Transparency is a core value at Cordial Trek. Your package price is comprehensive and covers your 3-star accommodations, Sustainable Development Fee (SDF), full-board meals, private transport, licensed guide, and the 5% Bhutanese GST.

Note: Personal expenses such as laundry, phone calls, tips for your crew, and alcoholic beverages are not included.

How can I stay connected with the internet and mobile service in Bhutan?

Staying connected in the "Kingdom of Happiness" is easy and reliable. Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, your guide will assist you in obtaining a local Tourist SIM card from Bhutan Telecom (B-Mobile) or TashiCell.

Physical SIM Cards: These are available at the airport arrival hall for approximately USD 2–5 (BTN 200–500) and can be topped up with affordable data bundles (e.g., 5GB to 10GB for about USD 10).

eSIM Options: If your phone is eSIM-compatible, both local providers now offer digital activation, or you can set up a data-only plan via international providers like Airalo before you land.

Hotel Wi-Fi: Most 3-star hotels and cafes in Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha provide complimentary Wi-Fi, though speeds are best suited for messaging and browsing rather than heavy streaming.

Note: To register a local SIM, simply provide a digital copy of your passport. Your guide will handle the quick registration process to ensure you have 4G/5G data before you leave the airport.

Can I visit Tiger’s Nest in the winter? Does it snow?

Yes, Tiger’s Nest is beautiful in the winter! While snowfall is most likely between December and February, the trail remains open. A light dusting of snow creates a stunning backdrop for photos and a peaceful atmosphere with fewer crowds. We recommend wearing sturdy hiking boots and dressing in layers, as temperatures can be chilly in the shade but quite warm in the winter sun.
