Everest Base Camp Premium Trek is an all inclusive Cordial exclusive 9-Day premium trip to the base camp (5,364 m / 17,599 ft) of Mount Everest. For those unaware, Everest is the highest peak in the world at 8,848 m. Moreover, the package besides featuring the perk of luxurious 4-5 Star accommodations where available, has an additional full on helicopter ride as well. The helicopter ride begins from Kathmandu Airport and takes the travelers all the way to Lukla Airport. The airlift will then again be available for the return journey from Gorakshep to Lukla and back to Kathmandu.
The journey begins with a thrilling 50 minute helicopter flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Despite being constructed in 1964 and paved in 2001, Lukla is still considered to be one of the most challenging airports in the world. Here you will meet with your supportive staff and begin your trek towards Everest.
The trip begins with the spectacular view of the Himalayas and a historic insight into the Sherpa Culture. Here you will also have a chance to unveil the ever mysterious existence of Yeti, the abominable snowman. The Yeti is believed to be an ape-like creature purported to inhabit the Himalayan mountain range in Asia. Many dubious articles have been offered in an attempt to prove the existence of the Yeti, including anecdotal visual sightings, disputed video recordings, photographs, and plaster casts of large footprints. Of course some of these are speculated or known to be hoaxes.
The next halt for your trek will be at Namche Bazaar. It is the main trading center and hub for the Khumbu region. Namche Bazaar is also popular among trekkers for altitude acclimatization. The town has a number of lodgings and stores catering to the needs of visitors as well as a number of internet cafés. Additionally, there are German bakeries, little cafes and many restaurants in the town as well. Moreover, there is also an Irish pub, said to be the highest and most remote Irish pub in the world. A popular local meal is yak steak. On Saturday mornings, a weekly market is held in the center of the village.
The Tengboche Monastery highlights the next remarkable landmark of your journey. Nonetheless, it is the oldest and biggest monastery in the Khumbu region. Furthermore, there is a belief that the mountaineers and trekkers pray for a successful trip here before proceeding towards their final destination.
Gorak Shep or Gorakshep is a small settlement that sits on the edge of a frozen lakebed covered with sand in Nepal with the same name. It is found at an elevation of 5,164 meters (16,942 ft) elevation, near Mount Everest. Also, in recent times, more modern amenities have become available in the region, such as high-speed internet access.
The base camps are rudimentary campsites at the base of Mount Everest that are used by mountain climbers during their ascent and descent. Supplies are shipped to the Base Camp by porters, and with the help of animals, usually yaks. Not only do climbers rest at base camp for acclimatization, but also it reduces the risk of altitude sickness.
A notable landmark, Kala Patthar (5,545 m / 18,192 ft) is located on the south ridge of Pumori above Gorakshep. Kala Patthar is very popular with trekkers as it provides the most accessible closeup view of Everest.
Finally, the memorable trip ends with a thrilling helicopter ride from Gorakshep to Lukla. The 15 minute flight in the Everest region will imprint a memory that lasts a lifetime. It features a close up view of the surrounding mountains and an eagle eye view of the higher Himalayas. After a short halt (30 minutes) for refueling in Lukla, the travelers then continue their journey towards Kathmandu.
Note: The premium package adds the perks of a helicopter ride from KTM-Lukla-KTM and Gorakshep-Lukla with 5 Star accommodation in Kathmandu and 4 Star accommodation (where available) in the mountains.
