In addition, experience the rich culture of the local Tharu community, adding depth to your adventure. Established in 1973 as Nepal’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984, Chitwan spans over 950 square kilometers of forests, grasslands, and rivers. Besides, its protected wilderness and diverse wildlife make it an unmissable destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

After the safari, glide across the Rapti River in a canoe, where gharials and marsh mugger crocodiles bask in the sun while exotic birds soar overhead. Furthermore, your visit continues to the Elephant Breeding Center and the Gharial Breeding Center. These centers highlight ongoing efforts to protect and preserve endangered species. Besides conservation, they also provide opportunities to witness baby elephants and rare reptiles up close, making the experience even more memorable.

Checklist for Chitwan National Park 3-Day Tour:

As bright colors like red and yellow make it difficult for you to blend in with your surroundings, darker hues like black, brown, gray or tan are most preferable. The idea is to blend into the bush so that wildlife is undisturbed, and you can view them in their natural habitat. Moreover, as you will be in the middle of the jungle, it is highly recommended that you wear full sleeve clothes even in the summer to avoid any insect bites and skin rashes. Additionally, comfortable shoes that cover your feet effectively are also recommended.

During the afternoon, sunscreen is very crucial with proper eye shades as well. You might as well carry a bottle of water to stay hydrated.

Furthermore, it is recommended to dress in layers if you are planning for the tour during mid winter to keep yourself warm. Similarly, if you want to go on your adventure during the monsoon, you must have proper rain wear.

Despite the proper preparations, you should constantly be ready for insect bites and rashes. It is therefore advisable to keep an insect repellent with you throughout the tour.

Best time to visit the Chitwan National Park:

The district of Chitwan has extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter. So, planning for the best time will make your vacation more enjoyable and memorable. It is however best to avoid the months of July and August during the monsoon rain.
