The Mardi Base Camp 5-Day Trek from Pokhara is among Nepal’s most rewarding short adventures. In just a few days, it reveals sweeping views of the Annapurna range. Moreover, the journey begins from Pokhara and leads through lush forests, charming villages, and alpine meadows. Step by step, the trail rises toward the breathtaking Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m). Despite its short length, the trek offers a rare blend of culture, scenery, and true Himalayan spirit.
Note: For travelers beginning their trip from Kathmandu, a convenient hotel pickup and airport transfer are provided. From there, you will take a one-way domestic flight to Pokhara, making the start of your journey effortless and comfortable.
The trip starts in Pokhara (820 m), a serene lakeside city surrounded by mountains. From here, a short drive takes you to Kande (1,770 m), where the trek begins. Soon after, you hike through terraced fields and rhododendron forests to reach Pritam Deurali (2,100 m). This first day offers gentle trails, traditional Gurung villages, and glimpses of Annapurna South.
The next stage of the trek leads toward Badal Danda (3,210 m) or Low Camp (2,970 m). Along the way, thick forests gradually give way to open ridges. Meanwhile, views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) and Mardi Himal begin to appear. By the time you arrive, the change in landscape from green hills to alpine meadows is striking.
From Badal Danda, the trail climbs steadily toward High Camp (3,580 m). During the ascent, you walk along narrow ridges with sweeping views of the Annapurna range. In addition, colorful prayer flags and grazing yaks mark the way. Upon reaching High Camp, the peaks of Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Annapurna South rise dramatically before you, making this a truly magical stop.
The highlight of the trek is the hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m). Early in the morning, you begin the ascent along rugged trails. Step by step, the mountains grow closer, with the mighty Machhapuchhre dominating the skyline. Finally, upon arrival, the view of Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Mardi itself completes an unforgettable Himalayan panorama. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery, you hike down to Low Camp or Badal Danda for the night.
The final day takes you on a scenic descent through forests and rural settlements to Sidhing Village (1,700 m). Here, you experience warm local hospitality before driving back to Pokhara, where the trek concludes. At the same time, this marks the perfect moment to relax by Phewa Lake and reflect on the adventure.

The 5-Day Mardi Base Camp Trek begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Kande, the trek’s starting point. From there, you’ll trek through scenic trails with overnight stays at Pritam Deurali, Low Camp, High Camp, and Badal Danda, completing the trek over 4 nights. Each day, hikes start around 07:30 AM and finish in the late afternoon, with regular breaks and ample photo opportunities. Meanwhile, breakfast and dinner are provided at your lodges, while lunch is served on the trail. Additionally, your guide will brief you each morning on the day’s plan, ensuring a smooth and memorable trekking experience.
During the trek, your accommodation options are mostly at teahouses. Although basic, these tea houses are clean and provide a comfortable place for a good night’s rest.
During the trek, you will be provided with full board meals and may choose from a menu offering local and international cuisines.
Note: It is highly advisable to stick to vegetarian food until the end of your trek, as proper toilet facilities are not available everywhere along the trekking trail.
Bottled water is available along the trail; however, we highly encourage bringing your own reusable water bottles to minimize single-use plastic waste. To ensure safe drinking water, we will be happy to provide water treatment pills at no additional cost. You may also use flavorings to improve the taste. Staying properly hydrated is crucial during the trek, so aim to drink at least 3 liters of water each day to maintain energy and support your body at high altitudes.
Please keep in mind that you’re embarking on a trek and not exploring urban areas. While some facilities like charging and Wi-Fi are available at an extra cost, they are not guaranteed. We also recommend against planning to work or conduct online meetings during the trek, allowing you to fully enjoy the trekking experience.
You should have Nepali rupees for expenses such as tea, coffee, bottled drinks and Wi-Fi. Plan to carry about USD 80-100 equivalent Nepali rupees. Additionally, set aside USD 80-120 for tipping your guide and porter. The amount can vary based on the level of service provided by the field staff members.
Your porter is limited to carrying a maximum of 25 kgs for every two travelers. However if you are a solo traveler or want to pay extra for a private porter you may utilize the complete 25 kgs. Else, if you have items that you don’t need on the trek, you can leave them at your Pokhara hotel for storage at no extra cost. But remember to take a photo of your bag-tag and keep it for easy identification in case the original tag is lost.
As said earlier, every two travelers will be provided with a single porter and an experienced guide. Therefore, the baggage must be divided between 12.5 kgs each as every porter carries a maximum of 25 kgs. Additionally, both guide and porter will be insured and well equipped with necessary items and first aid kit.
