Chitwan Jungle Safari 4 Days Tour is a comprehensive and complete excursion inside Chitwan National Park. It is the oldest preserved area in Nepal that lies in the south central Terai Lowlands. Besides, it is mostly known for its biodiversity. Moreover, Chitwan National Park is the first national park of Nepal as well. It was established in 1973 and was granted the status of a World Heritage Site in 1984. It covers an area of 952.63 km2 (367.81 sq mi) in the subtropical Inner Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal. Additionally, it ranges in elevation from about 100 m in the river valleys to 815 m in the Sivalik Hills.

Besides, its dense forests and grassy plains are home to rare mammals like One-Horned Rhinos and Royal Bengal Tigers. The park also shelters numerous species of birds, including the giant hornbill. Other wild animals here include spotted deers, gharial (Gavialis gangeticus), leopards and sloth bears. Moreover, the trip is an adventurous and fantastic opportunity to experience the diverse wildlife up close in their natural habitat. Furthermore, the tour includes activities like elephant rides, jeep safaris, tower night stay, canoe ride and bird watching. Additionally there is a visit to elephant and gharial breeding center and nature walks as well. These are all thus planned to give you an unforgettable glimpse into the park’s rich ecosystem.

The 4-Days option with tower night:

The regular 3-Days option would lack the opportunity of staying an extra night in the middle of the jungle. This 4-Days option thus provides the travelers with an unique experience of the wild lives in action within their territory. For the same, there is a specially constructed wooden tower located deep inside the park. Here the visitors will spend an afternoon and a night observing the wildlife from a distinct vantage point. Besides, the towers are basic but comfortable with beds, mosquito nets, and a balcony for viewing wildlife. A guide will be with you throughout your stay in the tower. He/she will be ensuring your safety and sharing their knowledge of the park’s animals and ecosystem.

How Do I get to Chitwan National Park?

We offer every traveler with hotel pick up and drop service to a nearby bus station in Kathmandu. The travelers will then board a tourist coach (5-6 hours) to Sauraha, Chitwan. After their arrival at Sauraha, a private vehicle will escort all the travelers to their respective hotel.

Additionally, we are exclusively offering our guests a perk of traveling to Chitwan from Pokhara as well. However, the travelers themselves need to arrive at Pokhara Tourist Bus Station for their tourist coach to Sauraha, Chitwan. Furthermore, we also have an option to travel to Chitwan from Kathmandu and later drop off at Pokhara or vice versa as well.

Besides, for the travelers willing to skip the bus ride, there is a flight option available at extra cost. You may thus choose to travel from Kathmandu/Pokhara-Chitwan or from Chitwan-Kathmandu/Pokhara on a short flight (20-25 minutes) as well.

What to expect from the 4 Days and 3 Nights Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour?

Elephant Safaris:

During the trip, one of the main attractions is to embark on an exhilarating elephant safari through the tall grasslands and dense forests of Chitwan National Park. These gentle giants offer a unique perspective of the park and allow you to spot various animals. They include rhinos, deers, wild boars, monkeys, tigers and a variety of bird life. For those not interested with elephant rides, they will have a jeep ride for additional regions within the park.

Jeep Safaris:

Jeep safaris provide another excellent way to explore the park’s diverse landscapes and wildlife. You can venture deeper into the park’s interior and potentially see a wider range of animals.

Jungle Tower Night Stay:

This exclusive 4-Days and 3-Nights option has an additional perk of a night stay at a specially constructed wooden tower located deep inside the park. Here, you’ll spend one afternoon and one night observing the wildlife from a distinct vantage point. The towers are basic but comfortable, with beds, mosquito nets, and a balcony for viewing wildlife. A guide will be with you throughout your stay. He/she will be ensuring your safety and sharing their knowledge of the park’s animals and ecosystem.

Bird Watching:

Chitwan National Park is a haven for birdwatchers, with over 545 species of birds recorded in the park. Early mornings are the best time to spot a variety of birds, from colorful pheasants and hornbills to majestic eagles and vultures.

Nature Walks:

If you enjoy a more intimate exploration of the park, guided nature walks are a great option. You can walk along jungle trails, spotting smaller animals, insects, and a diverse range of plant life. Your guide will be able to share their knowledge of the park’s ecology and point out interesting flora and fauna.

Cultural Experiences:

The trip also incorporates visits to local villages. It allows you to experience Tharu culture, the indigenous inhabitants of the Chitwan region. You might have the opportunity to interact with villagers, learn about their way of life, and witness traditional Tharu dances.

Canoeing on the Rapti River:

The trip also offers a thrilling ride on a single tree dugout canoe. Canoeing on the Rapti River is a relaxing way to explore the park’s waterways and spot wildlife like crocodiles and water birds.

Visit to the Elephant and Gharial Breeding Center:

During the trip, the travelers will visit the Elephant and Gharial Breeding Center. Here you can learn about the center’s conservation efforts to protect and preserve Asian elephants and gharials. The Elephant Breeding Center is located at Khorsor inside the park. It was founded in 1985 with the aim of preserving the declining population of Asian elephants. Gharial breeding center is another government funded center established in 1978. The center helps to protect the natural egg laying sites of gharials to hatch eggs in artificial conditions. Furthermore, the young ones are then reared until they are released into the rivers. It helps to reestablish a viable population in the wild.

Tiger Conservation Unit:

In the north and west of the protected area the Narayani-Rapti river system forms a natural boundary to human settlements. Adjacent to the east of Chitwan National Park is Parsa National Park. Additionally, contiguous in the south is the Indian Tiger Reserve Valmiki National Park. The coherent protected area of 2075 km2 (801 sq mi) represents the Tiger Conservation Unit (TCU). It includes Chitwan-Parsa-Valmiki, which covers a 3549 km2 huge block of alluvial grasslands and subtropical moist deciduous forests. Not to mention, the park is therefore considered to be one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal. Moreover, Nepal is not only for the Himalayas and trekking, but also for its spectacular diversity in wildlife, lush vegetation, vibrant culture and traditions.

Checklist for Chitwan Jungle Safari Tour:

As bright colors like red and yellow make it difficult for you to blend in with your surroundings, darker hues like black, brown, gray or tan are most preferable. The idea is to blend into the bush so that wildlife is undisturbed, and you can view them in their natural habitat. Moreover, as you will be in the middle of the jungle, it is highly recommended that you wear full sleeve clothes even in the summer to avoid any insect/mosquito bites and skin rashes. Additionally, comfortable shoes that cover your feet effectively are also recommended.

During the afternoon, sunscreen is very crucial with proper eye shades as well. You might as well carry a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Furthermore, it is recommended to dress in layers if you are planning for the tour during mid winter to keep yourself warm. Similarly, if you want to go on your adventure during the monsoon, you must have proper rain wear. Despite the proper preparations, you should constantly be ready for insect/mosquito bites and rashes. It is therefore advisable to keep an insect repellent with you throughout the tour.

Best time to visit the Chitwan National Park:

The district of Chitwan has extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter. So, planning for the best time will make your vacation more enjoyable and memorable. It is however best to avoid the months of July and August during the monsoon rain.
